2017: More Pressure, More Success, Less Bullshit, Less Hair

My hair is falling out.

I've personally made a little more than 4,300 hours of progress on ventures so far this year. Teams have helped push that over 10,000.

I've only watched 49 hours of documentaries, movies, and TV this year. The new Westworld was great. Rogue One will put me just over 50 (which was my line on January 1).

I've also managed to volunteer 65 hours this year. You can always find the time.

KinoSol SBC Year Highlights and 2017 Targets

  • We're ending the year with KinoSol dehydrator units (our 1st product) in just under 20 countries
  • We're prototyping our 2nd product now
  • We hit our target on the year, thanks to having a large support system for Kickstarter, and averaging a business plan competition every month
  • Our target is 1,000 KinoSol units sold next year
  • We've partnered with multiple schools and classes, we've welcomed a new team member, and we'll have 2 interns beginning in January

YEC Year Highlights and 2017 Targets

  • We fell $1,000 short of full budget target for our first event; that was a big win for us
  • We had almost 500 attendees, from over 20 states and 4 countries
  • We had 30+ exhibitors, and awarded over $30,000 in cash and prizes for the pitch competition
  • We're expecting 600-1,000 attendees for the next event, in April 2017
  • We're offering a food truck showdown, with a beer and networking event
  • Our target is $50,000 in cash and prizes for the pitch competition
  • Opportunities for sponsorship are now open. (message me for a sponsor packet)

Nebullam Year Highlights and 2017 Targets

  • We pitched and failed to make it into the Startup Factory in May, causing us to change business models from produce production, to a technology and software company
  • We've landed upon and are testing a unique business model for niche markets
  • We've welcomed a new team member
  • We were just accepted into the Startup Factory's second cohort, and will begin the 52-week program on January 10th
  • We have and are working on partnerships in 3 different states
  • We're considering raising a seed round in 2017

Helping with the AgEI Student Business Incubator has been a blast this semester. The students are incredible at progressing their businesses along, all the while balancing full class loads. I'm thankful for every one of our workshop hosts and guests, who have helped the students with hurdles along the way. It's looking like we'll have almost 15 students for next semester.

I've decided to scale back the number of meet ups and networking events I attend in 2017. I enjoy most, but I need to sell more.
--
I believe boxing is still the single greatest ventilation and lifestyle for me to handle the swings of startup life, which are seemingly much bigger than the swings my poker career provided.
--
I now feel I'm fully engulfed in trying to build the future, from the cockpit of a space craft of definite optimism.
--

I've decided I'll have and make 0 time for bullshit and excuses in 2017.
--
I'm willing to sacrifice everything. Even my hair.
